I, Robert B. Vance now residing at Alexander in the County and state aforesaid do make and publish this my last will and testament … to my son, David Vance … I now reside in the Alexander Hotel … which I own jointly with my son, James N. Vance … to my son, Zebulon F. Vance … to my daughter, Mary Cox … for the use of her daughter, Harriet Cox … to my wife, Lizzie R. Vance … direct that my body be buried in Riverside Cemetery at Asheville, NC … that my former wife remains be removed and reinterred next to me with room reserved for the burial of my wife, Lizzie … Next follows a statement concerning land purchased from A. M. Alexander and mentioning the following names Wm. F. Davidson, H. C. Davidson, Theo Davidson, Miss Morrison Shepherd.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal too this my last will and testament this the 21st day of February AD 1898.
