Guthrie, John

JOHN GUTHRIE – Enlisted 1779 in Halifax County, NC under Nicholas Long and General Sumner as a spy.  He was wounded and captured by the British afterwards being attended by Doctors Murray and Disard.  After the war he lived in Georgia 150 miles from Savannah, then moved to Buncombe County, NC. /s/ John Guthrie
    In 1835 he was a pensioner of Buncombe County, NC as a Private in U.S. Army, Transferred from Georgia.  His pension commenced on September 4, 1794.
