October Webinar “NC Court Records – Finding Genealogical Gems” by Nancy Manning
October 24 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
We are pleased to be able to provide webinars for our regularly scheduled programs this summer. We are still under restrictions about the number of people allowed to gather in our meeting space so a webinar is a suitable alternative. We are so happy to have the privilege of sharing this program with you courtesy of the North Carolina Genealogical Society (NCGS).
This meeting will be held on Saturday, October 24 from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. This will be a virtual meeting, using GoToWebinar software and hosted by the North Carolina Genealogical Society. The program will be a live webinar, so the presenter will be available to answer questions. Below you will find the details on the webinar:
“NC County Court Records – Finding Genealogical Gems” presented by Nancy Manning, OBCGS Genealogist and Historian.
Program: Learn about the evolution of the court system in North Carolina and the types/tasks of the County Court that existed in NC from 1769 to the present. The focus will be on court records prior to 1868.
The presentation includes step-by-step instructions on how to find microfilmed Court records on
FamilySearch. Other sources for these records will also be discussed. Examples of the gems found in
these records will illustrate that the search does pay off and even provides an occasional chuckle.
There will be a syllabus available and time for questions at the end of this live webinar.
Presenter: Nancy Manning is a native of Asheville and Buncombe County and has been researching her family for most of her adult life. She is currently the Genealogist and Historian for OBCGS and has been teaching and researching for the Society for over 20 years.
Hosted by the NCGS using GoToWebinar software, this program will be a live webinar with a syllabus available. You must register for the meeting before the program starts on Saturday so you can receive the link for the program. There is no charge.
