Reviews of Books & Publications Offered in the Bookstore

UNTIL HE IS DEAD by Tom Rusher ...  Hardcover, 246 pages, indexed, well documented.  Mr. Rusher served five terms as District Attorney in the Twenty-fourth Prosecutorial District of NC, which covers the counties of Avery,  Madison, Mitchell, Watauga, and Yancey.  While the book is a study of the administration of the death penalty in the western counties from the old public hangings through present day lethal injections, it is of great interest to genealogists/family historians because of the case histories covered in the above named counties. Many surnames familiar to researchers in western NC are found in this book.  The center section contains several most interesting photographs.
