When approaching Franklin on the 4-lane (Highway 64 or Highway 441-23) from north or east, proceed on the four lane past Marathon Gas Station and Smoky Mountain Systems on the left, take the next right to downtown Franklin. ( The exit is just before the traffic light.) This will put you on East Main Street. Follow East Main Street into town. After going up the hill into town, you will come to a traffic light at the center of town, at the "town square." Go through this light and on to the next light. At this light, turn right onto Highway 28 (aka Harrison Avenue). Follow Highway 28 (it will become Bryson City Road) about 3.5 miles out of town to the Iotla community. Go past the "Big D" convenience store/gas station on the right and immediately turn left on Iotla Church Road. You will follow this road about 5 miles all the way to Burningtown. It is a winding, rather crooked road, so take your time. Iotla Church Road becomes Burningtown Road. Continue to follow this road to Burningtown. Turn left on Middle Burningtown Road (NC-1392) and cross the bridge over Burningtown Creek. Take the first right (a gravel road) on Burningtown Church Road and go all the way to the end (it is a very short road.) This will bring you to the Burningtown Baptist Church. The fellowship hall is just beyond the Church itself. |
| When approaching Franklin from the south, follow 441 (Georgia Road) to the intersection of Hwy 441 and 64. Get on the four lane (US 64-441). Follow this road through 2 traffic lights. Go past the WalMart Plaza, Smoky Mountain Chevrolet, and the Bowling Alley on the right. At the next light (the third light), get into the turning lane and turn left. This will put you on East Main Street. From here follow the directions above to get to Burningtown. |
