Obituary Index on CD

OBCGS has amassed a large collection of obituaries/death notices from the Asheville Citizen and Asheville Times, later the Asheville-Times. The collection also includes some obituaries from newspapers throughout western North Carolina. Volunteers have recently completed the phenomenal task of indexing all of this collection. The index includes the name of the deceased, and (if given in the obituary) the age of the deceased at the time of death, other names by which the individual was known (such as maiden name, nickname, prior married name), place of birth and newspaper date(s). |
