OBCGS is a member of the

Irish Heritage Association
based in Belfast Ireland. This is an association dedicated to helping people find their Irish relatives. Research in Ireland is somewhat complicated because of our lack of knowledge of local resources and the reputation of the Four Courts fire in 1822. All hope is not lost, however, as there are other records to supplement the last census records.

We, as an organization, belong to the Irish Heritage Association to help you find your Irish ancestors at a nominal cost. You can commission a fully documented consultative report for $110.00. It takes about 6-8 weeks for you to receive the preliminary report and up to six months for the completed report, depending on how much information there is available.

A consultative report is just what the name says ~ this report will tell you whether there is enough documentation on your family to warrant a full scale report which is somewhat more expensive to finish. Look at a sample report of Humphrey Cunningham

How do you commission a report? That is what OBCGS is for. Contact, by mail, Bettie R. Albright P.O. Box 2122, Asheville, NC 28802-2122 with as much information as you may know about your Irish relative and include a check for $110.00 payable to OBCGS and the search is on!

IRISH HERITAGE LINKS is the magazine we receive from the Irish Heritage Association, 162A Kingsway, Dunmurry, Belfast BT 17 9AD, Northern Ireland and is one of the benefits of the Group Membership in the Association held by OBCGS. In its Volume 5, No. 3, Summer 1993 which we have here in the OBCGS library there is much information about County Donegal The Fort of Foreigners. It includes description of its geography, scenery, its shore line, bays, and history. There are descriptions of several towns © Ballyshannon, Buncrana, Killeybegs, Letterkenny, Lifford, Moville, Rapahoe, Ramelton, and Stranorlar.

She lists the most numerous names in the County, including the name Campbell, and then proceeds to list all the Septs of the Clan Campbell. It is a useful way to spend a few browsing moments in the OBCGS library. © or write for photo copies of the six pages involved. It is cataloged as a periodical in our "Foreign - Europe, UK. Ireland shelf section.

Remember, you can order a Consultative Report from the IHA as a member of OBCGS for $90.00 without necessarily holding your own single membership of $40.00 besides. There are several OBCGS members' searches going on now, but since they are fully privately funded, we are not likely to bring the results to you here unless they choose to submit articles. However, if you have much to do, we recommend that you contact Mrs. Kathleen Neil directly for full details of personal membership. Mrs. Neil is highly respected as a research director, executive secretary for many Clan Associations, and personally conducted tours.
